TRAIL
>>Do not walk out of the marked and signalled path. Do not approach cliffs. Pay attention to the markings.
>> There are overlaps with other routes, be speacial aware on this situations (signed on the stage sheet's map and on .kml and .gpx files)
>>Avoid walking on your own. Always warn a friend or relative, or an organization about the starting point and return.
>>Always use mountain boots, and carry waterproof clothing, hat and trail maps with you.
>> Do not vandalize signal posts or marks. Inform the manager organization if any thing is wrogn with the signalization (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

PROVISIONING
>>Always carry plenty of water and food with you. Attention, count on long distances without available sources of drinking water. Fountains in villages are not controlled.
>> At some villages there are no grosseries shop, but you can contact the local coffee previously if you are looking for supply - find the contacts on the DOWNLOADS page or at the Interactive Map)

BEHAVIOUR
>>
Leave no trace in nature. Avoid making noise which can be disturbing to fauna
>> There are no trash collection services on the path. Always take your garbage with you.
>> If you some, also collect cigarette butts.
>> Do not contaminate streams and ponds and always use biodegradable detergents.
>> Do not collect animals, plants or rocks, and do not approach nests. Do not feed animals or livestock.
>> Respect private property. Always close gates and fences behind you.
>> Be aware of livestock. Do not disturb the animals and always keep a safety distance (50m).

ON THE GO
>>Always check the weather forecast before using the trail. Avoid walking on rainy, thundery or foggy days. There are numerous slippery spots, with uneven terrain, and also stream crossings and waterlogged areas. On stormy days, the access to this trail could be limited. >> During the fire season (July - October), during higher fire risk days, the access to this trail could be limited. Check the route website for updated information (www.granderotadocoa.pt). Please, do not make fire and be careful with cigarettes. In case of fire or emergency dial 112.
>> Wild camping is forbidden by law. Only camp in authorized locations.
> The same trail can be used by visitors on foot, horse, bicycle or motor vehicles. Do not jeopardize your and others safety.
